Coconut Water and Sleep: What We Can Say

Written by

in

We do not recommend coconut water as a treatment for insomnia. Having a mineral in a drink is not evidence that drinking it will make someone sleep better.

Look for evidence about the actual treatment

NCCIH identifies cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia as a strongly recommended approach and describes limited or inconsistent evidence for many complementary sleep approaches.

Keep a useful record

If sleep problems persist, note your sleep schedule and the drinks or supplements you use, then discuss them with a clinician. That is more useful than increasing a drink because of an unverified sleep claim.

An everyday beverage choice
